BUDO BROTHERS MAGAZINE
MARCH 2022
LETTER FROM BUDO BROTHERS
WHERE YOU BEEN BRO!?...
We know... We know...
We missed a couple months of our magazine :(
The world has been bananas lately, and it seems like the universe has a funny way of making things converge all at once. Regardless, we work well under pressure, and despite not being able to get a mag out for a couple of months, we've been making some really great progress on the Product Development front.
We find the best way to deal with the madness of the world is to recenter and focus on the things inside of our control. The areas we decided to really focus on are continually providing the community with value, positive vibes, and creating innovative products that inspire martial artists to stay on the path.
We are also getting back to filming some fresh content now that things are getting back to normal. We're excited to showcase one of Canada's premier Muay Thai coaches with over 50 years of experience, Mike Miles.
We hope you enjoy this month's issue and thank you for your continued support!

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
We are so grateful to have a community of like-minded martial artists that are eager to share their thoughts with us. We had nearly 400 submissions where some standard choices were ranked, and many of you chimed in with some AWESOME ideas for new products. Well, the results are in and that's what we're going to stick to.
YOUTUBE MILESTONE
We also just hit a huge milestone and received a YouTube play button for hitting 100,000 subscribers. And we could not have done that without you. So a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who liked and subscribed to our YouTube channel. And if you haven't checked us out on Youtube, you're missing out!
Finally, if you find yourself without a hammer to hang a picture, a traditional Sai works exceptionally well, haha :)

WHY WE'RE SO PUMPED ABOUT THIS MATCHA
One of our good friends named Pedro founded a company that fuels his passion and blesses him with the opportunity to travel the world to find the rarest teas on the planet. The company is called O5 Tea.
On one of his to trips Japan, Pedro had the honor of meeting Tsuji Kiyoharu Sensei, a fifth-generation tea grower who is the only living matcha farmer to have received awards from the emperor...three times!!
Tsuji Sensei started his quest for the perfect umami when he was only 20 years old; having asked some of the best-known tea experts for advice, he invariably received the answer: "Start by learning in the fields."
And so he did; acknowledging that tea fields are a universe of ever-changing variables, Tsuji Sensei learned to 'listen' to his tea trees every year. Organic fertilizer, shade, harvesting times, and tea making techniques are adjusted according to the conditions that arise.
See the funny thing about matcha is, the green tea tree is grown in the shade... The lack of sun puts stress on the plant which causes it to produce more chlorophyll... Which gives matcha its distinct bright green color.
Now, it's no secret that matcha is a superfood loaded with antioxidants... and when you compare it to the b/s tea bags in your office kitchen, we're talking over 100x the antioxidants!
Matcha is literally stone-ground tea leaves, so you are ingesting the entire leaf and all its antioxidant goodness.
The tea is also loaded with ECGC which is an ionophore that helps zinc get into your cells (which makes it difficult for viruses to duplicate... bonus!) So pairing matcha with foods high in zinc or a supplement can help boost your immune system.
Ok, no more rabbit holes! But I highly recommend looking more into the health benefits of matcha... it's impressive. But back to the story:
So after working some magic on his end, Pedro managed to put in a good word for us with Tsuji Sensei and the legend made a batch specifically for us!
It's micro-milled magic that is smooth and creamy with a beautiful umami finish. Calling this matcha "Top shelf" doesn't do it justice.
